Dear Sir,

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter

of the 13th December, respecting the standing of

Messrs. Sanders, Rehders & Co. Ltd., and the position

in regard to the sub-agency for the Texas Oil Company

of New York, held on their behalf in Hongkong.

In reply, I may say that Mr. E. J. Carroll,

Director of the Company here, has seen me several

+

times since the queation of enemy firms in China came

to the front, and from what he has told me I gather

that your statement in reference to the constitution

of the company and nationality of the principal

shareholders, is correct, except that the percentage

of capital held by enemy aliens would appear, from

Somerset House figures (copy of which I attach) to be

there are 24,00 shares out of a

-

something under 22%
