were dealt with direat with Schmidt Troct & Co., and a shipmont

was made in December 1914. At the beginning of that month

Sanders Rohders & Co, Ltd., roceived a communication from the firm

of L. Paulsen & Co., of Copenhagen, conteining an order "for

account of our friend Hr. Carl Sohmidt ... to ship earliest possible

to Kr. Schmidt's Juntos," This letter left no doubt but that the

order was given by Carl Schmidt; it concluded, however, by

re uesting that future communications should be made direct with

Er. Schmidt's Sao Paulo firm. This, and further orderu received

through the same channel, mere duly executed, and debited to

Schmidt Trost & Co., Cao zuulo, paymont being made by How York

danks, against documents.

Examination of invoices eto, all goes to prove that the

goods were notually shipped Sentoo, the port for Sao Zoulo, and

thore is no indication that any further transport was intended.

Comparing the shipmonte made since the War with those prior therɔto

there would not nypear to be any undue increase in the total amount
