In reply to your letter of yesterday's date Imay say that when I left Hongkong I was furnished with two documents, viz: a Lear Certificate "" Pension Paper, copies of which doubtless had been forwarded to the brown Agents.

The Leare Certificate contains instructions of how a lotment Servant must act when he arrives in England. i. e.- be must report himself to the Colonial Secretary & also to the term agents, but the Pension Paper, with the exception of containing directions as to the mode it should be proper, Contains no instructions to the Colonist officer he should do with it when he reaches this country.
