This letter raises, in regard to Hong Kong, one
of the questions which is decided by the recent opinion
(12)
of the Law Officers on the West Africa liquidations the claims in question being claims against the Head
Office which appears to have no connection with the
Hong Kong branch of the debtor. The Law on the
subject in Hong Kong will be found in Section 5,
of Ordinance 28 of 1914 as amended by section 7 of
Ordinance 30 of 1914 and in Section 7 of Ordinance
11 of 1915.For the latter see 31583. The intention of
this Section is indicated in the Attorney General's
report from which it appears that a claim of this
kind might, with the Governor's authority, be made out
of the assets in Hong Kong., although the use of the
expression "branch" in Section 7 in 11 of 1915 makes
this point a little doubtful. When a decision has
