CONSTITUTION.
I. The name of this Charity shall be THE ROYAL HOSPITAL FOR INCURABLES.
II. The object of it is to give permanent relief to such persons as are hopelessly disqualified for the duties of life by DISEASE, ACCIDENT, OF DEFORMITY; and this shall be carried out on the broad principle of Christian kindness and liberality, in the hope of uniting ALL THE GOOD FOR THE GOOD OF ALL who really need help,
III. The design of this Charity is not to interfere with the action of any existing institu- tions, nor to relieve those cases for which provision is found elsewhere; nor does it profess to relieve temporary affliction; but so far as funds will permit, its aim is to provide relief for that which is continuous and permanent, and for which no public provision exists. It does not, therefore, deal with idiots, persons of unsound mind, with those who have been afflicted from birth, or who have received parochial relief.
IV. Such persons as require only partial relief, will be received as PENSIONERS, that they may have aid and comfort from their families, without breaking up the endearments of domestic life; but persons who need total relief, and that have survived their friends, or have exhausted their own means under their affliction, will be received into the Hospital, and will there be provided with all the benefits of a permanent HOME. The amount of the Pension shall be in all cases Twenty Pounds a year. V. Every case will be accepted as incurable, but will be treated hopefully; for although the presumed incurable and hopeless case alone is eligible for the benefits of this Charity, all means will be used to restore the patient to health,
VI. All subscribers of five guineas at one time, or half-a-guinea annually, shall be Governors of the Institution. The number of votes shall be regulated by the subscription: viz., an annual subscriber of half-a-guinea shall have one vote, with an additional vote for every additional half- guinea; a subscriber of five guineas at one time shall have one vote for life, and an additional vote for life for every additional five guineas; and all may vote immediately on payment.
