Dear Sirs,
633
600 Slabs Tin 96% ex S/S "Fushimi Maru" from
Hong Kong.
We have sold to Mesars H.R.Merton & Co.Ltd.
30 tons (600 slabs) Chinese Tin 96% for delivery with usual optional porte 1.e. Marseilles /London/ Swansea.
Our Hong Kong House for some unexplained reason shipped the parcel to London/Swansea and omitted Marseilles. As soon as we were aware of this, we asked them to arrange with S.S.Co. to land at Marseilles if required and we applied to you (although the material was on board) for a permit to discharge at Marseilles, but it was afterwarde arranged with you (over the telephone) that we let the matter drop, and apply for a permit when the steamer arrived in London, and ship back the parcel to Marseilles. Nothing further was done by us in the matter and we were waiting steamer'e arrival before further approaching you,
S/S "Fushimi Maru" arrived in Marseilles last
week and our buyers, unaware we had no permit, telegraphed the Ship's Agent at that port (as is usual)
