Dear Sir,

I enclose a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Imperial Continental Gas Association from their agent in Flushing. Such reports are being used in Germany as grounds for retaliation in the form of confiscating the property of British firms possessing property or interests in Germany.

If the Colonial Office could give a categorical denial of

these allegations the Imperial Continental Gas Association could,

by means of their German agents (who are men of considerable stan.

ding in the business world in Germany) counteract the report, and

thus help to protect British interests in that country.

I may mention that this matter was brought to our notice by

e member of our staff, and it seemed to us that it was our duty

to bring it before the Colonial Office.

Trusting that you will not consider that we are going out-

side our province in taking this step,

Yours very truly,

P. S.

Ruson

I enclose a short memorandum on the above subject.

F. G. A. Butler, Esq.,

Colonial office.
