With reference to Mr. Read's letter of the 3rd ultimo (44962/1914) I am directed to state that the Board of Education have arranged to interview some of the applicants for the post of Assistant Master in the Education Department of Hong Kong on Wednesday the 27th January. I am to refer to Sir R. L. Antrobus's letter of the 4th March 1909 (3887/1909) and to inquire whether the
Secretary of State is prepared to sanction the payment of the expenses of the candidates summoned for the interview in accordance with the terms agreed upon in paragraph 2 of Sir R. L. Antrobus's letter as amplified in Sir H. W. Just's letter of the 9th September 1909 (28604/1909).
The Board would be glad if the Secretary of State's ruling on this point might be conveyed to them at the earliest possible date.
