FOSTERING SEDITION.
Time after time attention has been called to the
activities of local Germans,
They have done everything
within their power to injure British prestige, they are now openly defying the laws of the Settlement, and their latest act is to attempt to undermine the loyalty of local Sikhs, They are sparing no pains to gain their ends, and money seems to be no object. A very serious and painstaking inquiry into this matter would undoubtedly reveal a widespread conspiracy, of which we have but heard a little. That little, however, prompts us to pen these few lines, and to call attention to a very grave omission in dealing with enemy subjects. German Club employs Sikh watchmen, British subjects; many German firms also engage Sikhs in a similar capacity, and it has been brought to our notice that Germans are endeavouring to work through them to the detriment of discipline, Immediate steps should be taken to remove every Sikh from the employ of Germans. Something must be done and done quickly.
