Two Cavalry and One Infantry Regiment to Relieve Outfits Here
While 5 New C.A.C. Ces. Will Come in September.
Clearing up many of the points puzzling in the big shift of lecal Army Regiments, a cablegram received this morning at Fort Santiago provides for the most sweeping change in local Army circles ordered in recent years and definitely settles one
point that by reason of the shift, the armed forces of the
United States will be increased here by five companies of coast
artillery.
Beginning with the July transport, one regiment of the
Army will return to the States every month until September 15
when the 24th infantry makes ita way homeward. At the same time,
beginning with the August transport, all arriving transports until
the October boat, will bring new men to replace the organizations
going home while five companies of coast artillery will cons to
increase the garrison at Corregidor.
This is the gist of the cablegram received this morning
at Fort Santiago from the War department. It is intimated that,
if the need arises, another transport will be added to those
