REC REG 22 NOV 15

I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of
His Majesty's Treasury Mr.Read's letter of the 9th instant M47999/1915) and its enclosures relative to the action of
the Dresdner Bank in arranging for the transhipment to
Hong Kong of certain goods consigned to Messrs. Wm.Meyerink and Company, Hong Kong which were on board an enemy vessel
at Lisbon.
In reply I am to say that in all the circumstances
My Lords concur in Mr. Bonar Law's proposal that the Bank
should be allowed to sell the goods and satisfy their lien on the goods including therein any sums reasonably expended by them in transhipping and forwarding and selling the goods; an undertaking being given by the Bank to account to His Majesty's Government for any balance that may remain of the proceeds of sale after the satisfaction of the
Bank's lien.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Malcolandy Mannsach
