RECO Rea J FEBIS

of letter dated 29th January, 1915.

Manchester.

The Commercial Intelligence Branch, Board of Trade..

Dear Sir,

The Hong Kong Government appointed Mr. W. G. Worcester of Hong Kong as liquidator to Messrs. Garrels Borner & Co.. a German firm. Mr. Worcester is the brother-in-law of Mr. Schröter, the resident partner in Hong Kong of Messrs. Garrels Borner & Co., kr. Schröter having married his sister.

We have been asked by Messrs. Reichardt & Co., the London agents of Kessrs. Garrels Borner & Co., to send Mr. Worcester quotatione and fresh patterns.

They inform us that Mr. Worcester is acting solely on his own behalf, and is not carrying on the business for the benefit of Messrs. Garrels Borner & Co., and they do not think the business will be carried on by Mesars. Garrels Borner & Co. after the war is over. They do not state if he has bought the trade marks and goodwill, and who is financing him.

We understand that liquidators were appointed by the Hong Kong Government for the German firms, to wind up the businesses and only take up contracts made before the war. They were forbidden to book fresh business.

Before we do anything, we shall be obliged if you will inform us whether you have received any information from the Hong Kong Government with regard to Mr. Worcester taking over the business of kesers. Garrels Borner & Co., also shall we be in order if we do business with him.

We are in doubt whether this matter will come under you, the Trading with Alien Enemies Committee, or the Colonial office, and shall be much obliged if you will hand it over to the right quarter.

Awaiting your reply,

We are, dear Sir,

Yours faithfully,

TOOTAL BROADHURST LEE CO. LTD.
