REPORT.

(REGS & SEPTS!

12th August, 1915.

J. BOOTH & CO., Fountain Street, Manchester.

With reference to the communication of the 7th instant received from the Home Office.

I beg to report having made enquiries and ascertained from Mr. J. Booth, Shipping Merchant, that in July, 1914, the business in uestion was carried on by Messrs. Leicester & Wooler at that address, and that he subsequently acquired same, the former partners being now out of the business.

Amongst the contracts that he took over was the ona from Lud. Voight & Co., Hamburg dated 12th January, 1914 (before war) through en agent named E. A. Kauke of Hamburg, for five dases of Flannelette gooda. The goods, viz., three cases (not five) were shipped per S.S. "Telemachus" to Shanghai, on the 28th July, and they have not been paid for.

The Bills of Lading are held by Mr. Booth, who does not intend to part with them, and the firm have not yet got the goods in Shanghai.

The correspondence supplied by Mr. Booth forms enclosures, and speaks for itself, which please return after examination.

The enclosed trade designs were handed to me by Mr. Booth as similar to those used by Lud. Voight, and supplied to them for the order in uestion, by Messrs. Norbury Natzio & Co., (not Natzia) of Elsinore Road, Old Trafford, Stretford, Lancashire, who print the labels and hold supplies to the order of Lud. Voight.
