in order to save expenses and there cont- inued the business on the same lines, at any rate, as far as the London business was concerned, and Eastwood & Holt bought from Mr. Hannibal as formerly and acted as his representative in this country.
Upon the outbreak of war Mr. Hannibal, to protect his own interest as well as his buyers in this country started himself apart from Messre. Went & Co. and informed Eastwood & Holt to this effect, and on this understanding Eastwood & Holt have since been buying direct from W.A. Hannibal produce of Hong Kong, such as human hair preserved canes, and articles for the manufacture of sauce &c
as heretofore.
MESSRS. TENDT & CO.
Eastwood & Holt have never had any direct dealings with this firm but when the latter made contracts with other firms, which in case of dispute were to be settled in London, Wendt & Co. or their correspondents used to ask Eastwood & Holt to appoint
an Arbitrator for them which was done gratuitously and when the Award was given it was sent on by
Eastwood & Holt who afterwards received the
arbitration fees from Wendt & Co. to hand to the
Arbitrators.
