Replying to your questions to us to-day we have to remind

you that when you consulted us shortly after the outbreak of the War

as to the position of your Firm owing to your Partner Mr. Bume being

resident and carrying on business at Hamburg as the Manager of the

Branch there of your Firm we advised you that on the outbreak of the

Tar it became illegal for you to carry on business in partnership

with Mr. Bume, an alien enemy. We explained to you that it

might be open to question whether your partnership was absolutely

dissolved or whether it was suspended during the continuance of the
