WINDOW AND PLATE CLASS. There is a large demand. The import is chiefly from Belgium via Hamburg. MOULDINGS(PICTURE FRAMES). A large import from Germany has been partially displaced by goods manufactured in Hongkong.
SETING MACHINES. Owing to the excellence of their dis- tributing system the 'Singer' machines have the largest sales.
German machines are also on the market. ANILINE DYES. This trade has been very extensively push- ed by German firms. Large stocks are kept in the hands of importers, the goods generally being consigned free, and in many cases the manufacturers attach an expert to the importing firm to travel in the interior, find new markets, appoint agents and explain the use of the dyes.
EXPORTS
The Silk business is so well established that it is more or less a matter of routine and, although it represents more than 60 per cent of the total value of the exports
to foreign countries, it is unnecessary to mention it in this report.
