Sir:-
We have received and thank you for your letter of
yesterday's date, No.163620/15, notifying as a condi-
tion to the shipment of Gold from Hong Kong to Amster-
dam, consigned to the Nederlands Oversea Trust, that
the latter must accept consignment before shipment is
made. The shipment in question having been offered by
cablegram to which we cabled a reply last week it is
probable the Gold has already been exported and we are
Communicating at once with the Nederlands Oversea. Trust to ascertain whether they have accepted consignment.
In our letter of 3rd instant to His Majesty's Trease
ury we indicated that the shipment under reference is
probably the first of a series and we should be greatly
obliged if you would kindly state whether we should be in order in accepting further shipments of gold, offered, for delivery in Holland provided they are con- signed to the Nederlands Oversea Trust, with the pre-
vious authority of that Trust, and the Hong Kong Gov-
ernment sanctions export from that Colony.
We have, etc.,
(Signed) J.M.
