: With reference to your despatch No. 187 of the 10th ultimo I have the honour to transmit herewith copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Consul-General at Hankow with regard to the alleged purchase of large quantities of hides at high prices by Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg and Company, From this despatch it would appear that there is no truth in the report in so far as Hankow is concerned.
