further dealings with these two establishmente.
As regards the branches in the Treaty ports of Canton,
Shanghai and Tientsin of Messrs kenter Brookelmann & Co.
the branches in the same porta and in the captured port of
Tsingtau of Mesars Sander Wieler & Co., the sole establishment
of Faust & Co. in Tientsin: we have done no business with any
of them since April, as you will see from the enclosed table,
and have of course not made any shipments to them (ez old con-
tracts) since the date specified in the Proclamation of the
24th June.
We would mention however that the two firms, Reuter
Brockelmann & Co. and Sander Fieler & Co. are owing us sums
of money amounting to 22,759.4.9. and £215.10.11. respectively
which we shall of course try to recover.
Von Buring Wibel & Co. of Pekin and Tientsin went under
a few years ago, and as for Wm. keysrink & Co., these people
were so convulsed with rage in September 1914 on account of
the determined British attitude shown by our Mr. Sanders in
letters (since printed for private circulation) that any
rapprochement with that firm was long since eliminated from
the bounds of possibility.
In conclusion we venture to say with great respect
that we regret that it should have been thought necessary to
remind us that we must not do that which has already been
prohibited by H.M.Broclamation of the 24th June.
We are,
sir,
Your obedient Servants,
For Sanders, Rehders & Co., Ltd.,
(Signed) E.J. CARROLL,
Director,
