Sir:-
I am directed by Secretary Sir 4. Qrey to
transmit to you herewith a copy of a letter from the ilome Office enclosing copies of correspondence with Messrs Sanders, Rehders and Company concern-
ing certain enemy firms in China and longkong.
In this connection I an to enquire whether the liquidation of the various enemy firms and com- panies in Hongkong is proceeding satisfactorily, and to suggest that it would be advisable in view of the ultimate object which it is hoped to attain under the Proclamations prohibiting trading with the enemy in China, that the liquidation should be completed and the firms definitely wound up as soon as possi- ble in order to avoid any rish of their remaining" in existence in Hongkong at the close of the war.
I am,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble Jervant,
Wangley
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
