The American Ambassador presents his
bompliments to His Majesty's Secretary of State
for Foreign Affairs, and has the honour to transmit
herewith a copy of a Note Verbals from the Imperial
Foreign Office, No. III b 34335 dated 20th September,

1915, received through the Embassy at Berlin, making
enquiry as to whether the civil prisoners interned at
Hong Kong have been transferred to Thursday Island, and
if 80,
what preparations have been made for the a000m0-
dation of these persons in the new camp.
Mr. Page will be happy to transmit to Berlin
the substance of any reply that His Majesty's Govern-
ment may desire to make.
