Hongkong and Buma. The former replied that
they had not sufficient evidence to take action
against the two Chinamen. The Government of
Burtna requested that they should in no case be
allowed to proceed to Bunaa or India but suggested
that they should be sent to Hongkong where they
might with advantage be kept under restraint ntil
the end of the war.
An arrangement was then come to with the
French Government whereby the two Chinsmen should
be sent to Hongkong in the usual way with the next
batch of Deportees for China. The Governments
of Hongkong and Burma were notified of tuis
arrangement and were requested to communicate with
each other as to what steps they wished to be
taken.
This morning I was informed that the two
Chinamen had been embarked on board the British
steamer Telemachus and her departure was tele-
graphed to Hongkong.
