On July 21st, 1915, a passport No.33262 was issued to
Kr.Valdemar Meinjung, one of our directors, who sailed on July 24th in the P.4 0.Steamer "Arabia" to Shanghai on the business of
our firm. The passport was endorsed for travel to the Far East.
at Colombo the passport was examined and found in order and Kr. Kleinjung was allowed to go ashore.
At Singapore the passport was again examined and the Examination Officer informed Mr.Kleinjung that after putting the matter before the Commanding Officer he would see his again. Later the Examining Officer took Mr. Kleinjung before the General Officer commanding, who enquired what Mr. Keinjung's business was, and informed him that the passport as it stood was useless, as it should have had
the visa of the Colonial Office.
The General Officer Commanding furnished Mr. Kleinjung with a latter to the Provost Marshal at Hongkong, and instructed Mr.Klein- jung to cable to England to obtain verification of his story about his luggage having missed the boat at London and that his firm is wholly British.
At our request the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Javigation Co.
