sir,
I have the honour to report that the
numbers of companies registered under the hina
(Amendment) urders in Council of 1913 and 1915
now amounts to 167 and the number of applications to register to 262.
There are besides in the local directory
a very considerable number of companies using the
word *Limited", though some are known to meto be
Chinese. I have sent a list to jongkong with a
request that those registered there may be in-
dicated; but there is no penalty provided for
failure to register except the refusal of recogni-
tion and protection and no provision for the case
