gir:

with reference to your Excellency's telegram of

August 7th, 1915, respecting the standing and trust-

worthiness of the firm of Hartmann and Company, I have

the honour to state that there is no concern answering

precisely to that description and 1 conclude that it is

Hartmann Crothers, incorporated, of 10 High Street,

Boston, to which your xcellency refers.

According to a prominent firm of bankers in Loston

this concern does not buy for its own account but acts

only for other houses, being in fact brokera in forsi、n

and domestic hides and skinɛ.

The firm finances the

purchase until the arrival of the commodity in the

nited States, The bankers are of opinion that any

undertaking furnished should be given by the firm or

firms for whom Hartmann brothers are acting cather than

or as 11 A48 by the brokers.

excellency, The Tight Honourable
