I am directed by Secretary Sir E.Grey to forward
herewith for the information of Mr.Secretary Bonar Law,
copies of correspondence with Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg and
Company, regarding the shipment of hides and produce

from China to Italy.
From information in the possession of the War Trade
Department it appears that this firm have branches at
New York, Shanghai and Canton, as well as London, and are
connected with Arnhold, Karberg and Company of Berlin,
They have bought hides in great quantity and at double
price, which are paid for by Diederichsen and Company,
agents for Krupp's in the East. These hides are reported
to have been shipped to San Francisco,probably for
saddlery and boots,
