SECTION 1,
(No. 105.) (Telegraphic.)
Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received May 2.)
Peking, May 2, 1915.
MY telegram No. 73 of 30th March. Chinese Government yesterday requested me to cancel arrangements made for inspection of Kiangsu, on the ground that secret investigation showed that certain districts in province were not free from opium cultivation, and British delegates are being recalled.
(Confidential.)
My impression is that this step may not be unconnected with scheme reported in my despatch No. 67 of 22nd March,
(Sent to Indi 1.)
