Sir;-
I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 3rd
م الله
instant (8793) respecting certain bills bought by the
Deutsche Asiatische Bank at Hongkong.
As regards the 2nd paragraph of your letter, I am
to suggest that if Mr. Secretary Harcourt sees no ob-
jection, the Governor of Hongkong should be instructed
to forward to the Procurator of the British Prize Court
at Alexandria the bill relating to the s.s. "Sudmark"
and "Derfflinger", the cargoes of which are now before
that Court for adjudication. Sir Edward Grey agrees
that the remainder of the documentary bills should be
retained at Hongkong.
I am,
sir,
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
Your most obedient,
humble Servant,
Wrangley
