With reference to your letter of the 10th
May, No.20674, I have the honour to enclose for the
information of the Secretary of State, a copy of a
letter from Messrs howland Ward, Ltd. relative to the
condition of the tiger skin sent home from Hong Kong.
We have seen the skin and have told the firm to take
certain preliminary steps for its preservation, but
it seems doubtful whether it will be fit to stuff as
complete animal, although it may be possible to save the
head.
