With reference to your letter Ko.23 in 59/12 of
29th July on the subject of the estate of the late Lr J.
Ross, I have the honour to inform you that proof of title to this estate has been duly produced and registered at
this office in favour of lire Christina Matheson or Ross,
16 Market Brae, Inverness (who claims to be the widow of the deceased) and that Lre Ross has applied to us through her solicitore for payment of the outstanding salary of the deceased in our hands amounting to £9. 7. 2.
2. We understand however from your letter under
reference that the disposal of the local estate as well as
the assignment of the pension, is being decided locally, and we therefore propose to await your further instructions before making payment.
