With refe
reference to your letters of the
Gove
14th May No 22023 and 27th iden 24076, I am commanded
by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to request
that you will inform the Secretary of State for the
Colonies that it is understood that the two
aeroplanes subscribed by persons resident in Hong
Kong have been accepted by the War Office for the
Military Wing of the Royal Flying Corps, and My
Lords do not desire that the R.N.A.S. should
participate in this gift.
I am to add,as having some bearing on the
question of gifts from the Overseas Dominions, that
the Patriotic League of Britain Overseas are
making a gift to the Admiralty of a squadron of seaplanes of the latest type at a cost of
£35,000.
