With reference to my Despatch No. 387 of even

date, I have the honour to transmit the enclosed copies of letters ad tressed by the late Juperintendent of the P. & 0. S. 1. Co. to the Acting Director of the Royal Observatory on the subject of

charges by the Marconi Company of meteorological messages from

ships carrying their Radiotelegraphic Installations.

The Great Northern and Easter Extension Tele-

stations in the Far East, and I would ask whether the a me conces-

-sion camot be obtained from the Marconi Co. If not then I should

be much obliged if you would be good enough to make the best bargain possible for this Government.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,
