REC REG 24 DEC 15
With further reference to the writers con-
-versation re the Electrical Goods for the Macao Electric Lighting Co. Macao. We bag to confirm to you in writing the various facts as detailed by the writer to you, and with the request that you will be kind enough to ask our Government permission to allow us to import the said goods.
They comprise:-
4 cases Centrifugal Pumpe and Motors, the Pumps were made by Messrs. Sulzer Bros. of Winterthur Switzerland, and were then sent to Berlin to have electric motors of Siemens Schuckertwerke fitted to them. They were then shipped by Siemens Schuckert by the #teamer "Bulow" now interned in Lisbon. The cargo was shipped from the Port of Antwerp. These pumps are for a Diesel Engine of Sulzere make already in Macao, and the non arrival of these pumps means that engines cannot get enough water and hence will not be able to run, this directly affects the Colony of Macao in as much that new consumers of Electric Light cannot conveniently be taken on, and also other schemes which are about to be developed will not be able to get power. Of course we can get new pumps from Home ar America or Switzerland but as this would bring up very knotty questions of payment we trust you can get these pumps released. We might state that the pumpe have been paid for by the Macao Electric Light Co.. Ltd. In short the Macao Electric Light Co. a British Company operat -ing an Electric Light Plant in Macao & Portuguese Colony, badly in need of the pumps, which will directly help them and the Colony of Macao. The Governor of Haco has expressed his willing- -ness to intercede on the Macao E. L. Co.'s behalf in Lisbon and see if his Government can in any way help to get this cargo re- -leased. Any charges would be borne by us, but in no way would any
