REG 29 NOV16

Your Excellency,

With reference to my Despatch of July Tớth.

and your reply of July 30th. regarding the Central and North China Godowns and Press Packing Company, Limited, and the Yangtse

Wharf and Godown Company, Limited, I have the honour to forward copies of the latest returns made by these companies and also copy of a letter from the acting Crow Advocate.

I should be very grateful for Your Excel- -lency's advice as to the best way of bringing the matter before the Court under subsection 6 of Section 130 of the Companies Ordi- -nance, a course apparently simpler aid more expeditious than prosecuting these essentially German concerns for breaches of our King's Regulations.

I may add that a fire recently occurred on the premises of the former company which has made a claim for re-instatement on the Hongkong Fire Imurance Company, Limited, while claims for cargo including saltpetre stored are being

made in the names of Chinese.

·

British subjects do not deal with these companies but neutrals and especially Chinese claim that they are entitled to consider them as British and to trade with them free-

-ly.

His Excellency

Sir Henry May, K.C.M.G..

Governor of Hongkong.

I have etc.. (8d.) E. H. Fraser,

Consul-General.
