Canton, 18th. August, 1915.
I have the honour to inform you that two mails
from my firm in New York and addressed to myself, are being de-
-tained by the Censor in Hongkong.
Upon enquiry, I have been informed by the Chinese Post Office that these letters were contained in Chinese mail bags, which were despatched from Shanghai on the 26th. & 31st. ulto. and have been opened upon arrival in Hongkong.
The letters have been sent registered, as they contained important documents, such as Letters of Credit etc. and as I am placed in an awkward position through their non-arrival, I shall feel much obliged to you if you will kindly take steps with a view to getting my letters released and thanking you very much in anticipation for your endeavours on my behalf.
I have etc.,
(sd.) Alfred Richter,
by A. Schubert, Attorney.
