REG 26 NLV 15;

GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 13th. October, 1915.

With reference to Mr. Harcourt's Despatch

No. 100 of the 12th. April, 1912, and previous correspondence, I have the honour to inform you tant I have had under consideration certain amendments of the conditions of service for Nursing Sisters in the Medical Department of this Colony.

2.

The objection to the existing conditions is that it is not possible to get rid of a llursing Sister whose services are no longer efficient but in whose case there is not sufficient ground for dismissal.

I have therefore to recomend with the con- -currence of the Principal Civil Medical Officer that in the conditions of service for future candidates there should be em- -bodied the system of periodicɛl re-engngements which obtains in

the Police Force.

3.

Accordingly I append for your consideration a draft of conditions of service amended in order to effect the

desired object.

4.

I would also propose that in future as far as possible no Nursin, Sister should be selected for appointment if more than thirty years of age.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,

THE RIGHT HO OURABLE

ANDRE BOAR LAW, M.P.,
