Today, the 9th. August, 1915, we the undersimed
K. A. Telders, lat. class Navel Lieutenant and 2nd. class Naval Lieute
-nant R. Polis, both serving on board H.K.S. "Tromp" have, by verbal
command of the Commanding Officer of that man-of-war, board the Aerio
-an motorschooner "Henry S", anchored in the roads of Lintidoe, in
order to examine the ship's papers and to make other desired informat-

Amongst the ship's papers the charter party was mis-
-sing. According to the Captain of the schooner the contract had been
made at the office of the "Manila Import Of, to which the vessel be-
-longs, between this company on the one side and Mr. Herman Tehde,
American citizen, on the other.
The manifest mentioned as cargo ballast only.
The articles showed, that the crew consisted of 18
individuals, besides the Captain.
The passengers' list contained the names of the 2
following passengers:-
Hermann Wehde, by profession a jeweller and George Boehm, by
employment a "quartermaster", both being from Chicago. Accord-
-ing to the Captain (named Julius Henning) the latter wAS A
non-certificated engineer and a specialist in the typewriter
industry.
The ship had been cleared for Pontianak. From the papers it appeared, that the destination had originally been Shanghai. This destination was given up, on account of the unfavourable season,
as far as typhoons is concerned.
It appeared from the Logbook, that on 10th. July the ship had been partly loaden, which cargo had been discharged on th
12th. of that month by order of the aforementioned Wehde. Concerning
the nature of the crgo, the Captain could not or would not give sufficient information. In the afternoon of the 14th. July Manila was
left and the Eastern course was taken through the Strait of Macassar.
