sailed. Before landing they were warned that if they made use of any seditious language they would render themselves liable to the
Army Act and their movements; confined to the City of Victoria and
to a small portion of the Kowloon Peninsula. These precautions have
proved adequate.

The suppression of seditious literature in the
Colony has had a good effect and at the present time I have con-
-fidence in the Committee of the Gurdhwera. Its President, Bishen
Singh, the schoolmaster in charge of the Indian Goverment School,
has assisted the Captain Superintendent of Police in various matters
and I en antisfied that the atmosphere of the Institution is not unhealthy. The Institution is closely watched by the Captain Superintendent of Police and the Military Authorities and I myself moke a point of keeping in close personal touch with the President.

The record of visitors accommodated at the Gurdhwara shows that 'lawab Khan did not stay there. Being a Mahomedan
he would not be permitted to do so.
But it is possible he may have visited the precincts
of the Temple in the day time.
