In reply to r. Harcourt's Secret Circular

Despatch of the 23rd. of March, I have the honour to infon you

that of the six Corporations mentioned in paragraph 2 of the Despatch only two the Hamburg-Amerika and the lorddeutscher

Lloyd

traded here. These two Corporations had Agencies in Hony-

-kong, but both used the harves al warehouses of Me Hongkong an

Kowloo: Waurf and Godom Company. They possessed no warves or

warehouses of their om.

The only other Geram or Austro-Hungarian

Steamship lines trading here were the Jebaon line and the Austrian Lloyd.. The latter used the premises of the longkong and Kowloon Wharf and Codown Company and had no wharves or warehouses of its

own.

The former used warehouses situated on Marine

Lot 301, in the Western portion of Victoria, and 2 small piers in front of it. The property is shown on the enclosed plan, and belonged to Lesors. Jebsen and Company a German Firm, Agents for the line which bears their name, up to the 1st. of August, 1913,

when it was sold to 2 Chinese for the sum of $360,000, the vendors,

however, practically retaining possession of it by lending

$288,000 of the purchase money on mortgage on the property.
