the wicked in whose midst nothing but vexation and trouble prevail, neither listen to their pernicious schemes. They only incite you to suit their own baneful purpose, for God said "There is no good in "the multitude of their private discourses, unless in the dis-

"-course of him who recommendeth alms, or that which is right, or

"agreement amongst men". Be heedful and desist from interfering or mingling in affairs which do not personally affect you, for God has forbidden you from doing so.

God said "Beware of sedition, it will not

"affect those who are ungedly amongst you particularly but all of

"you in general".

In a passage in Sahih El Bekhary, related by Aby Harrirat, it is said that the Prophet says "the crime of one

"who sits in the council of the seditious is less than that of him

"who supports it; that of its supporter is less than that of him

"who works in it and that of the worker in it is less than that of

"him who labours for it. Those who avoid it derive benefit, while

"those who seek its shelter reap its evil consequences*. The meaning

of this is that it is better to be far away from sedition than to

be near it, and that he who takes part in it will reap its dangers

and consequences.

Therefore, we, all the Ulemas, have deemed it

our duty at such a time, O you ussulmen, to give you these words

of advice as it is in accordance with the words of our Prophet

"The advice is the religion". This advice is enough for you, and

from God the help.
