With reference to your Despatch lo. 165 of the 24th of June, I have the honour to inform you that Mr. F. Brome's pension papers have been forwarded to the Crown Agents for the
Colonies.
2.
I have learned with much regret that Mr.Brome has been obliged on medical grounds to retire from the Public Service. He has done very valuable work for this Government and in the discharge of his duties he has never spared himself. In addi- -tion to the zealous and efficient performance of his official duties he was of the greatest assistance in furthering by his enthusiasm and example the development of the Volunteer Reserve Corps of which he was one of the original 50 members. This organise. -tion now numbering 373 has proved of the greatest service during the past 12 months.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Bm
Governor,&c..
