This is a question of some difficulty and

I kept it back a day or two to consider it.

On 26537 we advised the Governor with

regard to the following questions:-

(1)

that the trade marks belonging to liquidated firms are still existing.

(2) that the liquidators should not sell such

trade marks as part of the assets of the firma liquidated.

(3) that licences might be issued in certain

cases, including the case where British Manufacturers had been in the habit of manufacturing goods for a liquidated firm under a mark owned by the firm.

He now raises a different point, namely, whether any steps anould be taken to prevent or

present in connection with marks which were used on

expressly permit the use of such trademarks by persons other than the owners. The question has arisen at
