Referring to my Despatch No. 252 of even date,

regarding the liquidation of the firm of Messrs. Gaupp and Company, I have the honour to state that Mr. Carl Bunje, who has gone to

Ingland to interview the British creditors, is apparently a German

subject.

His father, Mr. Emil Theodore Bunje, was born iz

Germany in 1852; he emigrated to the United States of America in 1871, and he was naturalized as an American citizen on the 16th.

December, 1887. Mr. Carl Bunje was born in Bremen, Germany, on the

24th. June, 1890.

The Consul-General for the United States of

America in Hongkong states that under America law Mr. Bunje is an American citizen. He has been supplied with a passport by the

United States Consular Authorities in Singapore.
