GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 12th. July, 1915.
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr. Harcourt's Despatch No. 133 of the 15th. May relative to the late Police Constable E. Goucher.
2.
I regret that I am unable to recommend that this Colony should cmtribute to the support of the deceased's mother. Constable Goucher joined the Hongkong Police in March, 1913, and at his death he left cash in the sum of 8490 against debts amounting to 884, from which it would appear that he was not in the habit of Bending large remittances home.
3.
There has been paid to the estate a donation of
£350 from Sir Robert Ho Tung and his brother Mr. Ho Kam-tong. The funeral was paid for by private subscription, and the monument will be erected at the cost of the Police Burial Fund. There will there- -fore be a considerable balance to the credit of the estate, which
will be transmitted as soon as possible.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
Ama
Governor,&c. .
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
ANDREW BONAR LAW, M.P..
