With reference to my secret despatch
of March 25th, may I take power to supplement the power of deportation conferred by the Order in Council of October 26th 1896 by detention pending departure of steamer naming port in native country as destination. Power is necessary for dealing with isolated cases (?) undesirable Indians In each case,, Colony will bear expense and Indian Government will be apprised.
