London, 12th. January, 1915.
Mr. Schluter has written signator privately on the
17th. November last about the
Mexas business and you have no doubt a copy of his letter, as he
writes that your Mr. Steger would explain the position to us. We
have, in fact, assented (already on the 23rd. ulto.) without
hesitation and almost blinfold to an arrangement about which we had
no particulars only the bare outline and we even guaranteed
Richter, in short being prepared, and continuing to be prepared, to
run the whole and sole risk of the business, in order not to lose
this valuable connection.

It now tums out that the Richter arrangement wil 1
most probably not work at all, that is, it is not likely to be
approved by the authorities and the liquidators; and we must, so to speak at the eleventh hour, try to provide a safe alternative.
Had we but been consulted at once, viz. in November, the matter
would have been settled lone as to the satifaction of all
parties.
We cannot do better that hand you the enclosed
copies of betters, bearing on the matter, in order to simplify correspondence.
