On Mr. Biden's arrival in the Colony in August,
1904, he was placed under the directions of Mr. Jaffe, Executive Engineer, who was then in charge of the construction of the Tytam Tuk Waterworks Scheme, let. Section. From 1904-06, Mr. Biden was exclusively engaged on the erection of the Pumping Station Build- ings and Pumping Machinery at Tytam Tuk. From 1906-07, in addition to the work already mentioned, he was engaged on preliminary
work in connection with the 2nd. Section of the Tytam Tuk Scheme, principally a contour survey and levelling and the erection of weirs and gauges for measuring the yield of the catchment areas . From 1907-08, Mr. Biden was engaged on the completion of the lat. Section of the Tytam Tuk Scheme under Mr. Jackman, Mr. Jaffe being absent on leave from April 1907 March 1908. From 1908-10, when
Mr. Biden went on leave, he was engaged on preliminary work and
dredging operations in connection with the Harbour of Refuge Scheme,

His Mechanical knowledge of special value with regard to the latter as the dredger employed was a large vessel of the ladder type,
●quipped with powerful engines and machinery.
On Mr. Biden's return from leave, in 1911, he
was placed under the instructions of Mr. Hollingsworth, Executive Engineer in charge of Maintenance of Waterworks, during whose leave and temporary occupation of the post of 2nd. Asst. Dir. of Pub. Works, he has acted as #xecutive Engineer. He still retains the substantive appointment of Assistant Engineer under Mr. Hollings-
