A
/ course of lectures for Officern was instituted on 17th
Decomber and were delivered twice a week at Volunteer lead
quarters by Lt. Col. P.J. Roberty 9.5,0. Captain P.R.O. Galcer and Captain 6.5. Stewart, and continued until Lt. Col.Koberly
and Captain alker left the Colony. The lectures rere well
attended and much appreciated.
0. MUSKETRY.
The murketry training was chiefly carried out during a
weeks chr.p on Stonecutters Island from 31st October to th
November.

The remainder of the trai ing xas carried out at the
King's rark as opportunity offered, but it was found that the
range accommodation A very inadequate for the increased
nur.bers of the Reserve and the Volunteer Corps.
Another difficulty in the training particularly in repid
fire was due to the mixing of long and short Rifles through-
-out the Companies and Sections.
Excluding the Engineer Section 234 rochers completed the
Tre ined men's course 77 completed the Recruits course and 54
did not complete the course. The very great majority of the
latter were either exempted as consors or went on leave or
resigned before the completion of the course.
Of the hngineer Section, 2 men completed as trained men,
4 as Recruits and 14 eitler did not fire the course or did
not complete it.
