Enclosure 1.
No. 31.
Sir,
27451
73
15 JUN 15
Audit Department,
Hongkong,
16th. April, 1915.
With reference to the audit of the British Postal Agencies's Accounts for the past 10 years, which I have always assigned to myself, principally on the grounds that the procedure of accounting is in some cases somewhat intricate, of which I have made a special study.
2.
The Accounts in question number eleven every month, and the audit of these occupies roughly 3 days.
3.
In view of the fact that the Postmaster-General receives a fee of £100 per annum from imperial funds, and that the 2 post office accountants have recently received a bonus of £150 each for their work in connection with the British Postal Agencies, I would therefore respectfully venture to put forward a claim for a bonus of £100 from Imperial Post Office funds, which I trust will meet with the favourable consideration of His Excellency the Governor for transmission to the Secretary of State for his ulti-
-mate approval.
The Honourable
The Colonial Secretary,
Hongkong.
I have etc.,
(3d.) H. R. Phelips,
Auditor.
