From these comparisons, it will be seen that in the in-
crements granted to the two branches of the Service
al-
though the scales are the same there is vast difference,
which is presumably due to some oversight for I am confident]
that nothing can be further from the intention of the Govern
ment that one branch of the service should be treated more
favourably than the other, seeing especially that Interpre-
ters and Translators have specialised in interpretation and
translation in addition to being able to do clerical work.
I therefore beg you to be good enough to submit this my
application to His Excellency the Governor with the request
that His Excellency may be pleased to re-consider our representations and grant me and the other two members in the Interpretation Sub-Department similarly affected the same privileges as already allowed to the Clerical Staff.
